Construction started on Beavers Creek Weir Upgrade

Tuesday, 15 May 2012

The new weir will be constructed on a by-pass adjoining the existing Beavers Weir. It will be fitted with the largest tilting gates in Australia for better regulated water flow, as well as a fishway to help fish migration up the river.

The infrastructure improvements will better control flows into Old Man Creek from the Murrumbidgee River. The upgrade is expected to divert up to 20,000 ML of water a day, reducing erosion and losses and ensuring water delivery continues to meet demand. The upgrade is an integral part of the NSW State Water Corporation’s water saving CARM Project.
